The Christchurch Botanic Gardens

The Christchurch Botanic Gardens embody the green heart of the garden city.  Covering 30 hectares and containing a world class blend of over 10,000 exotic and indigenous plants, the gardens provide a diverse living plant encyclopaedia.

The gardens were established in 1863 and are well known for their magnificent collection of specimen trees.  From the formal planting of the bedding displays and herbaceous border, to the meandering pathways of the native collection, to the striking oddity of the tropical conservatory complex, the gardens offer a wealth of lively interest in every season.

Everyone is very welcome to enjoy the views, take a stroll or study the collections.
